Time for Tea

Morning snuggles, the girls are addicted to Baby D first thing in the morning~!

This is what I do when my sisters are learning!

Tea Time!

First Rie was the server.
We practice serving others first, asking how they like things and taking care of others ahead of ourselves.
We don't always get it right, and we spill A LOT, but we are learning and get better and better every day.

Then Sinclair gets a turn to serve....

And I get some tea and time to meal plan.

"Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost."

Pre Math It

 Good day fellow teachers, if you are a parent you better believe you are a teacher.
This morning we read "The Courage of Sarah Noble". We had a tea party to practice serving others, and reinforce our manners. We also played with some play-dough.
And we did math.
Doesn't that sound weird?
"We did math", well we did. :O)

I love this curriculum, it uses dominoes and feels like a game. It really aids in student motivated learning.

Rie was content with her blocks....

"Look what I did!"

Each one in numerical order.
Once she masters this we begin adding and subtracting, with a game board.
This curriculum uses concrete images, as apposed to abstract like numbers, which a child's brain doesn't recognize until the age of 7.
Just some info I go by.

In child rearing, homeschooling, anything you do really, there are so many different ways of doing things.
So please read this feeling encouraged and not like I think what you do is wrong.
Just putting that out there :O)

Have a blessed day!

What a Hoot!

Welcome to my Home School Blog.
I was thinking of ways to keep track of all we do at home, and what better way than to blog about it!
This is how we learn in the Braley house, I understand there are MANY different methods. The goal of this blog is to encourage, record keep, and hopefully keep my self accountable along the way.
So here is what we did this morning....

For Christmas my girls were given a subscription to the Ranger Rick magazine. I am so excited for my little naturalists to see the world through such curious eyes.
Today we read a story about the Horned Owl, and her babies in the first few weeks of their lives. The girls loved it, and stayed interested. The story was only 4 pages long and had a lot of super cute baby owl photos.
After we read the story we painted some owl shapes I had cut out.
The girls love to paint, well Sinclair does and Rie enjoys rubbing her hands in it.

(forgive the pic quality, I was given a new camera and am still trying to figure it out :O)

This is our art wall, right when you walk in the door to our apartment.
I recently ripped off the last few months of art work and replaced it with these beautiful Horned owls.
I am hoping to keep up on this, replacing the pics every month...we shall see how that goes :OP

This is right when you walk in the door, and at the kids level. They love to show people their art when we have guests.

Today we will also read from "Jesus Story Book Bible", and A.A. Milnes " Now We Are Six" a book of poems. We read all day long and hopefully do some out door exploring this afternoon, although it is freezing outside.
Well the house is a mess, and the girls are playing with Christmas presents so I better run.

Happy Home Schooling!
